Open Streets Main Road builds on a local programme inspired by Colombia’s Ciclovía. The concept is to close down a street temporarily so that it becomes CAR-FREE. It’s a chance for people to reclaim streets as public space, for walking, cycling, skating, playing, exploring and general socialising. Open Streets suspends reality and allows us to imagine a new “normal” for our streets.
While signs of Spring is all around, the Cape Town Big 7 team encourages all to continue to use water sparingly. There are several ways to explore the Cape Town Big 7, all of which depend on how many days you are spending in Cape Town and how much time you have to spend at each destination.
Safety is a number one priority at the Table Mountain Cableway. For this reason, the Cableway closes each year for a brief period to allow a team of experienced engineers to inspect the entire operation. This year, the cableway will be closed from Monday 24 July to Sunday 6 August.
